Information:
The 530 tag of the MARC 21 bibliographic format
contains a note about a different physical format
in which the item is available. This tag also
contains the source and terms of availability for
the item in a different format. This information
can help library users find the item in the form
that they can best use. Note that information on
other editions of the item in the same physical
format goes in 500 tag notes. Information about the
availability of other physical forms in your
library should go in a 590 tag.
AACR2 covers the Additional Physical Form Available
Note in rule 1.7B16 and in the X.7B16 rules for
each format in chapters 2-3, 5-9, 11-12 (2.7B14,
3.7B14, etc.).
RDA 27.1.1.3 covers the Additional Physical Form
Available Note in Recording Relationships to Related
Manifestations.
Subfield a contains the description of the other
format or formats and any other information that
does not go in other subfields. Subfield b contains
the organization or vendor from which the other
form is available. Subfield c contains the terms of
availability. These may include whether the item is
available separately or part of a set, restrictions
on use of the item, method of payment, and other
conditions. Subfield d contains the order number.
