Information:
The See From Tracing - Uniform title (430 tag) of the
MARC 21 authority record contains another version of
the uniform title. Uniform titles in the 430 tag
differ from the established form of uniform title
because different forms of the uniform title may have
appeared on title pages or the uniform title may be
different in other languages.
Many uniform title authorities established by the
Library of Congress also have see from tracings. A few
uniform titles are established in Sears List of
Subject Headings and in Library of Congress
Annotated Card or AC headings for children's
literature. These may also have see from tracings.
Local libraries may also use see from tracing when
they create their own uniform title authorities. When
library users are familiar with other forms of uniform
titles, these should be entered in the 430 tag.
The subfields used in the 430 tag of the authority
record parallel the subfields used in the 130 tag in
the MARC bibliographic format. In addition subfields
v, x, y, and z allow for subdivisions used with the
title in a subject heading.
