WebPath Express Update for Circulation Plus/ Catalog Plus

Update Your WebPath Express Links Over the Internet
If you subscribe to WebPath Express you can get the latest 856 electronic access tags over the Internet. With Catalog Plus and WebCollection Plus v4.20A or higher, thousands of URLs are available through WebPath Express online.

Note: Before getting started, verify that:
 

• Your customer number has been entered into System Setup | Site | Identification.
• You have turned on the virtual 856 tag by selecting the Show Authority 856 tags in OPAC option from System Setup | Cataloging | Misc.
  
  1. Download the AUTH856.001 and BIB856.001 files (in the link provided in the footer of this box below) to your local system (either local hard drive or network). The AUTH856.001 file contains the Authority record for each heading in WebPath Express as well as the 856 link. The BIB856.001 file contains the Headings records. Follett Software provides a cataloged MARC bibliographic record for each WebPath Express heading. These records may create a link to headings that you don't have in your current MARC bibliographic records. For example, you may not have the subject heading "acid rain" in your current MARC bibliographic records. But by importing the BIB856.001 file, you will allow your students to find information on "acid rain" even though you do not have a physical item located on the shelves in the library.
  2. Launch your Cataloging Module.
  3. From the menu, select File | "Import MARC 21 Authority Format."
  4. Import the AUTH856.001 file.
     NOTE: You do NOT need to select the option for "Replace Existing MARC Records." The WebPath Express 856 tags will automatically merge in any existing MARC authority records.
  5. After import, Cataloging will ask you if you want to remove Follett bibliographic 856 tags, Select No.
  6. If you want to import the bibliographic records containing the subject headings that match the WebPath Express headings, import the BIB856.001 file using: File | "Import MARC21/852 holdings Format"
