Textbooks from here to eternity... or so we thought!

Five years ago the Napa Valley School Library Consortium implemented Destiny® Textbook Manager™ at a few designated sites. This process has continued to be a learning experience that involves site libraries, student management specialists and IT departments.

Last summer, Library Services and the district textbook team transferred more than 2,500 textbooks from an existing high school to a brand new site. At the same time, we implemented Destiny Textbook Manager at another comprehensive high school and closed three elementary schools.

We began to dream of textbooks and talk of textbooks and think in textbook numbers and conditions. Our mantra became, “Managing textbooks is the one thing we can do that will save the district money and not impact a position.”

We survived the textbook management process and saved the District over $180,000. The textbooks are in place; every student has their required books and we were able to quickly collect data for the Williams Report.

We actually had a countywide Destiny Library Manager user group meeting yesterday and did not talk about textbooks (or, only just a little…)

Below you’ll find a video we created for our annual textbook report. If you can't see the video, visit this hyperlink:
