Information:
The Heading - Corporate Name (110 tag) of the MARC
authority record contains an established form of a
name heading for the corporate body that can be used
as a main entry, subject heading, or added entry in
the bibliographic record.
Corporate name headings are established by agencies
that publish them in either print or electronic form.
Many corporate name authorities are established by the
Library of Congress. A few corporate names are
established in Sears List of Subject Headings
and in the Library of Congress Annotated Card or AC
headings for children's literature.
Local libraries may create their own corporate name
authorities for names not established by the Library
of Congress, Sears, or LCAC. When headings for
corporate names are locally established, Chapter 24 of
the Anglo-American Cataloguing Rules (AACR2)
should be followed.
The subfields used in the 110 tag of the authority
record parallel the subfields used in the 110 tag in
the bibliographic record. In addition, subfields d, g,
n, t, f, h, k, l, p, and s allow the authority record
to include the title of a work associated with the
corporate name. Subfields v, x, y, and z allow for
subdivisions used with the name in a subject heading.
