Information:
The Heading - Genre/Form Term (155 tag) of the MARC
authority record usually contains an established
form of a term that can be used as a genre/form
heading. Genre/form headings indicate what a work
is rather than what it is about. Genre/form works are
identified by characteristics such as: style, plot,
mood or tone, character type, and theme.
Genre/form headings are established by agencies that
publish them in either print or electronic form. For
instance, the Library of Congress publishes the
Library of Congress Subject Headings(LCSH) and
the American Library Association publishes the
Guidelines on Subject Access to Individual Works
of Fiction, Drama, etc. In addition to established
headings local libraries may add their own genre/form
headings for local use.
